Security

Symetrica is a technology leader in the development of radiation sensors for detection and identification. Our integrated solutions use a combination of state-of-the-art technologies to drive the development of next generation multi-layered detection and identification systems.

Handheld Solutions

Symetrica has teamed with Smiths Detection to develop RadSeeker - a next-generation system to detect and identify nuclear threat materials. Available from Smiths Detection, RadSeeker is a handheld, portable, rugged and highly accurate radioisotope detector and identifier. The Discovery Technology® detector sub-system in RadSeeker was specifically designed to meet Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission requirements.

Discovery Technology® provides the capabilities that enable RadSeeker to be used in a wide range of applications. These include rad-nuc search for civil defense, the first response to a terror event and the location and identification of radioisotopes detected during routine cargo screening.

Security Screening Solutions

The same capabilities that have been demonstrated in RadSeeker, are ideal for implementation in layered overt or covert security screening systems. These layered systems can be used to detect and identify the movement of special nuclear materials or weapons across borders, into facilities or through mass transport systems.

Discovery Technology® detection units are available with a wide range of gamma detection and identification features for deployment in next generation systems. The seamless integration of Helium-3 free neutron detector technology and a statistically rigorous approach to generating alarm criteria enables our systems to be designed to provide gamma only, neutron only or gamma and neutron sensing capabilities.

The technology is uniquely scalable. For more information and pricing, please contact us with details of your requirement.

Radiation Portal Monitors

For radiation portal monitors, Symetrica offers Helium-3 free drop-in replacement neutron detectors. These are designed to meet the neutron detection requirements, the gamma rejection criteria and the environmental performance requirements for all portal applications.

In addition to providing an off-the-shelf neutron detector technology, Symetrica offers gamma sensors for the detection, classification and identification of radioactive material. We provide solutions for primary and secondary screening applications.

In primary, where high-sensitivity gamma detectors are required, a new class of large volume Spectroscopic-PVT sensor has been developed. These address the requirement to discriminate more effectively between naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) and potential threats.

In secondary, large volume sodium iodide (NaI) sensors that utilize our unique Discovery Technology® architecture are available. These are designed to form the basis of a new, more accurate identification capability. As is the case with our handheld technology, all our portal sensors have on-board, real time stabilization and health monitoring systems. These enable our multiple detector solutions to produce combined spectra with no loss of resolution or detection and identification performance.

Mobile & Man-Portable Solutions

In the fight against the evolving terror threat, the detection of illicit radioactive materials between the fixed points of entrance to the country is vital. These systems form a detection capability that can help deter and detect terrorist activities.

Our unique technologies are equally applicable to man-portable, vehicle-mounted and stand-off detection systems. For more information on these, or any of our other capabilities, please contact us.
