Security

Symetrica Identification technology can aid in discovering radioactive material in suspicious Cargo in Ports, Along Borders, and at Airports

Detection of illicit traffic in radioactive materials, which could be used to make dirty bombs, is a very high priority for the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) of the US Department of Homeland Security. Special Nuclear Materials (SNMs), which could constitute a threat, must also be identified against a background of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials, such as clay tiles, ceramics or bananas, and a range of legally transported radioactive materials such as medical isotopes. Effective screening devices are required for personnel and freight at, for example, ports and borders. Detection and identification has to be achieved rapidly without disrupting the normal flow of commerce.

Symetrica has developed unique technology which can detect and accurately identify threat materials, even when they are hidden in heavily shielded containers.

Symetrica technology and Detectors in medical scanning can aid in the measurement and imaging for cancer diagnosis and therapy

Symetrica has developed novel detector and imaging technology for a range of medical applications. These include:

· Measurement and imaging of radio-tracers for pharmaceutical development.

· Cancer diagnosis and therapy.

· Diagnosis and monitoring of neurodegenerative diseases.

We also have our own proprietary technology for:

· Enhancing the images acquired using gamma cameras.

· Improved energy-resolution, high sensitivity surgical probes to support lymphatic node biopsies.

· High resolution (~ 2mm), rapid data acquisition Positron Emission Tomography.

Space

Our technology platforms have many additional applications for materials and isotope detection and identification. These include, but are not limited to:

· The measurement of natural gamma radiation:

· Nuclear safeguards.

· Radio-isotope measurements in the nuclear industry.

· Mapping radio-active elements in the environment and the on surface of other planets.

· Mapping natural radioactivity in rock strata for oil exploration.

· Ocean seabed mapping

· Radio-isotope measurement for security threat assessment and treaty verification applications.

· Elemental analysis using neutron-activation methods

There are a range of applications in which the neutron-activation of materials is the best and sometimes the only method of analysis. These include:

· Quality control of cement, minerals or coal.

· Identification of suspected land mines for humanitarian de-mining.

Please contact us for more information about these or other applications of our technology.
